Dear Candidate,

The Contra Costa County Democratic Central Committee (our local party) is embarking on a new era as it

helps determine America’s future. We are now accepting endorsement requests from candidates for all (partisan and non-partisan) local offices in Contra Costa County. This is the year of the Democrat and we are committed to helping elect Democrats in every possible race. We will accomplish this through a continuous year-round voter registration effort, walking precincts, phone banking plus sharing our endorsements with our membership, elected officials and Democratic Clubs.

In closely contested races, the endorsement of the Democratic Party can mean the difference between winning and losing!

We will gather and maintain data to serve candidates in both partisan and non-partisan elections. We will recruit and develop candidates for every elective office in the county. We will receive and disseminate information over the internet and through traditional means. We will encourage youth organizations to participate in building their communities.

The first step in our endorsement process is to submit an application for endorsement. This application is available on our website at http://contracostadems.org/2008/08/16/dpccc-endorsement-process/ or you can download it from our Facebook group “Democratic Party of Contra Costa County” or you may email brianlawrence@yahoo.com to request a copy. The application must be sent back to Elections Chair Brian Lawrence at brianlawrence@yahoo.com by September 5, 2008. You will receive an email confirmation that it has been received within 24 hours. Your answers to the application questionnaire will be held in confidence by the membership of the Democratic Central Committee unless you request otherwise.

The second step in our process will be an in-person interview with the Elections Committee of the DPCCC. We will be holding meetings in the eastern, central and western parts of the county and will work with you to coordinate a convenient time.

Official endorsements will be made by the Democratic Central Committee at the regularly scheduled September 18th meeting.

We will win elections for families who have worked, who are working
and who will work in Contra Costa County.

We look forward to working with our endorsed candidates during their campaigns and then once they are elected to office.
