Before an intense crowd of 200, George Miller addressed the crowd on a broad scope of issues and took questions from the crowd, which included a sprinkling of Tea Party T-shirt wearers as well as two challengers to George in the Open Primary. The format was that Congressman would take direct questions from people who raised their hand in the audience which led to some chaos as a few determined to disrupt things and hi-hack the process stood up and interrupted with their questions. After a particularly disruptive incident the Congressman made one of his more poignant comments when he spoke to the crowd directly calming them down and then making the comment that:  “I am sure that you are the same people who are complaining why . . . → Read More: Congressman Miller at the Peace and Justice Hall in Walnut Creek

The food was ample and well prepared by Jim Donnelly and his legion of helpers.  The chicken rumored to be marinated in Margheritas was especially liked and cleaned out faster than piranha's on a rib eye.

Gathering at the Antioch City Council Chambers, the mayors of Oakley (Jim Frazier-D), Brentwood (Bob Taylor-R) and Antioch (Jim Davis-R) joined with the Vice Mayor of Pittsburg(Ben Johnson-DTS) in an interesting forum hosted by the East County Democrats for Action club in a very civilized non-partisan forum.

Questions were asked from a collection from the audience and ranged all over without any directly partisan or hostile loaded questions.

Some basic salient features were:

1. Brentwood has a substantial kids' shadow government program where the kids spend time with Council members and city staff including the Police Chief.  It took a few years to develop but the kids have come around to incorporate it into the education culture of the city.  This is a good reminder . . . → Read More: Mayor’s Forum in Antioch hosted by East County Dems
