The LA Times reports that a New York billionaire is the driving contributor behind the Republican attempt to change the way California divides up its electoral votes. Thankfully, this chicanery seems to have been stopped, but we need to keep an eye on it still.

Just down the road from us, embattled Congressman Doolittle has vowed to run for reelection. This came out the same day his Chief of Staff was testifying before a grand jury about ties to Abramoff. Beating Doolittle this time out will be almost as wonderful as saying goodbye to Richard Pombo. Details here.
