The agenda will include a political update from California Democratic Party Executive Director Shawnda Westly, a call for testimony on the proposed delegate selection plan, discussion about making endorsements in the "top two" primary process, and other resolutions that may be considered at the July California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting.

California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton is encouraging all Californians to sign a petition to encourage our legislators to work for us and let Californians vote on extending current taxes in order to protect vital health and human services and education programs. As Burton writes:
Who does Norquist think he is to try and bind California Republicans to his agenda when they are elected independently by the people in districts up and down this state?

Democratic Party members in Contra Costa County will be seeking election as delegates to the 2011 and 2012 California Democratic Party Conventions during Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEM) on Saturday, January 8.
These ADEM elections are the vehicle by which the California Democratic Party proceeds with its reorganization, which occurs biennially to determine the members of the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC). These Delegates will meet for the first time at the California Democratic Party State Convention held April 29-May 1, 2011 in Sacramento.
Contra Costa Democrats who live in Assembly District 14 (Nancy Skinner), Assembly District 15 (Joan Buchanan), and Assembly District 11 (Susan Bonilla) will attend elections, along with Democrats in the other 77 State Assembly Districts. The deadline to apply to run for an Assembly District Delegate slot to the California Democratic Party's state central committee is Thursday, December 9. The elections for Assembly District Delegates will happen the weekend of January 8-9, 2011.
Delegates serve through the 2012 general election and will have the opportunity to represent their Assembly District at the 2011 State Convention in Sacramento and the 2012 State Convention.

The VOTE 2010 precinct walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. The business meeting will follow afterwards at approximately 1:30 p.m. The CDP office is located in downtown Oakland. From 980/24, exit 17th/18th Street. Public parking is available nearby. The nearest BART is 19th Street.
